Do you pray God’s will
without praying God’s mind? Too often we want to do His will, but our way (if
that even makes sense). We come to Him with an attitude like, “OK Lord, let
your will be done, but let’s do it like this…” This is a sure
recipe for failure. Many Christians
can quote that God’s thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our
ways (Isaiah 55:8), but do we put that into practice in our lives? How about in
our prayers?
I have heard people say, “If
you want to make God laugh, then tell Him your plans.” There is something to
that. Sometimes He may lead us through what may seem like the long way.
Sometimes He may have us interacting with people we may not necessarily like.
Sometimes He may send us places we would not choose to go. But do
you trust Him? The next time there is a conflict between your mind and
the Lord’s remember that He is sovereign (and you are not!). Let go of your own
will, meditate in His Word, and let your thoughts become more in
tune with His.
