And Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he eluded Saul, so that he struck the spear into the wall. And David fled and escaped that night.
1 Samuel 19:10 esv
David’s life was under attack, literally. While living in
King Saul’s palace, he was hated. Saul knew David would take his place someday
and he was severely jealous. More than once Saul tried to kill his successor.
The spear David dodged was lodged into a wall. Saul was serious. Can you
relate? Are you somewhere that people don’t like you? Are you in a place being
persecuted? Are you somewhere that you can’t see how it will lead to God’s
destiny for you? Good.
David spent years in the wilderness running from
Saul, but God was working. David was God’s chosen; intelligent, handsome, and
courageous. But he was also arrogant and naive. God needed to work some things
out of David before he took the throne. In his years running from Saul he
learned patience, humility, and trust in The Lord. God is doing the same in
you. The attacks are preparing you for your destiny. Be thankful to God that
you are in His boot camp. Ask Jesus what He is trying to work out of you and what
He desires to instill in you. Your dreams are on the way, but you must be
prepared for them. God is making you ready to fulfill your life’s calling.
