Ephesians 5:26-27 esv
Many of us know this passage as an example of the husband and wife relationship, however it is first a picture of Christ and His bride, the church. One day Jesus Christ will present His bride to Himself free of spot, wrinkle, or blemish. We will be totally pure and perfect. Throughout our journey in this life, however, God wants to continually cleanse us as we're on our way to complete perfection in the next life.
In this life the struggle with sin can be disheartening. We go up and down. We try and we fail. Sometimes our best just doesn't seem to work. But we have hope in knowing that one day, those of us who are true believers, will be made perfect and holy by Christ Himself. That is our goal we are moving towards. The end has already been proclaimed as victory. And in this life, through the power of the Spirit and the Word, we can be continually cleansed as we move towards perfection. You can win the battle with sin. Get in the Word. Let Christ clean you up!
