Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For
our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast
love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you. – Psalm 33:20-22 (ESV)
"Hope is such a strong emotion. It has a
comforting power that can turn any negative emotion to its extreme opposite:
envy to excitement, sadness to joy, anger to optimism, materialism to
generosity and bitterness to forgiveness. There is temporary comfort in what
the world calls “hope” - hope that your favorite team will score, hope that you
get the present you wanted, all based on “things” and “wants”. But
imagine the power of hope in Jesus Christ filling your life. The Bible tells us
the encouragement and endurance that we find in the Scriptures were written so
that we might have hope (Romans 15:4). This heavenly hope that the Lord has
blessed His children with gives us the push that we need, reminds us that we
have potential and most important that God’s perfect plan for our life includes
our God-given purpose.
Still, these wonderful promises of hope
that we find in His Word are promises for those who have given their life to
Him; those who are saved. Confess and believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and God
raised Him from the dead and begin to live a life running over with hope".
