When evildoers assail me
to eat up my flesh,
my adversaries and foes,
it is they who stumble and fall.
Psalm 27:2 esv
God uses haters to stop us from becoming them. Let’s look at
David and Saul. When David was a boy Saul was King of Israel. Plain and simple
King Saul was an egotistical and arrogant jerk. He was a hater in every sense
of the word. As a grown man he tried to kill David on several occasions,
starting when David was just a child. David went on the run and Saul died
trying to end David’s life. Saul missed his destiny trying to block David from
his. BUT... without Saul David would have been Saul number two. David was
handsome, a prolific writer, and a mighty warrior. He was especially famous as
the one who slayed Goliath. David had a high propensity to be just as evil and
arrogant as Saul, but his running from Saul and God’s provision made David
humble and ready to be king.
Your haters are keeping you from becoming a hater yourself. We
all have the potential to be full of ourselves and not focused on God. So
Christ allows haters in our lives to keep us focused on Him. The pain keeps you
in prayer. Take your focus off of that person or those people and focus on God’s provision. God
has lessons for you to learn. Seek Him and forget about your haters. Be
confident in God’s love. You will prevail!
